Who I am:
Here’s the short version. I’m Christopher — or Chris, if you want to be informal. Originally from Montreal, now living in Ottawa. I spent seven years in Toronto, but felt it was time for a change. I’m a writer by passion and by trade. I’m also a media and social media junkie and a pop-culturist. If that wasn’t enough, I love to cook and consider myself a foodie.
My background is in journalism, mainly radio and print. I’ve been published in several newspapers, been a movie critic for the Montreal Gazette and even had two regular weekly columns. My radio career began back in high school when I started working with the the local Oldies station and has lead me down various paths.
Since then, I hosted a top-rated morning show in college, worked for a country music station in Toronto as a promotions director and voice specialist and appeared on such television shows as Because I Said So... and Open Mike with Mike Bullard and was interviewed on CityTV. I was also the entertainment reporter for a weekly sports radio show on CKGM-AM The Team 990 in Montreal. I even made a guest appearance on the popular Mike & Diane in The Morning show in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I still continue to do freelance voice work, including podcast and narration.
My passion has always been, and always will be, writing. And now I’m back doing what I love most. I continue to write and blog and have decided to chronicle my move from Toronto and life in Ottawa. Which brings us to…
What is this site about:
This site explores the ongoing challenges and experiences of an accomplished journalist who was born and raised in Montreal, spent seven years living and working in Toronto and has now relocated to Ottawa.
From changes in culture and lifestyle to changes in personal habits and home life, blog entries cover a wide variety of topics including many firsts as well as relevant information about Ottawa that others might find helpful.
Seen through the eyes of someone who is discovering the Capital for the first time as a resident of the city, this site aims to take the reader along for the ride and share personal thoughts, opinions and stories.
Since this blog began in May of 2008, it has welcomed over 250,000 visitors and become one of the top-rated and most visited blogs in the Ottawa area — which is a huge personal achievement and an amazing feat, thanks largely in part to the wonderful readers who made it possible.
